Brief Description
Manages all publicity related to all shows produced by the society
Knowledge
  • Appropriate software/systems, including design and advertising
  • Understanding of UK copyright laws
  • Current best practices for amateur theatre publicity via appropriate research
Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Secretary to obtain any licensing requirements for each show and ensure that such requirements are fulfilled for any publicity campaign
  • Liaise with the show Director to discuss/agree any items of interest to use as publicity and any ideas on poster design
  • Organise a publicity campaign for each show, utilising posters, banners, press, social media, direct mailshots and any other acceptable method of publicity
  • Arrange the design and printing of posters/artwork/banners for each production
  • Arrange timely mailshots to members and mailing list
  • Ensure mailing lists are managed in accordance with relevant legislation (currently GDPR)
  • Ensure that any publicity, especially on social media, does not contravene any copyright laws or otherwise expose the society to risk (i.e. political or personal views)
  • Obtain permission from any member, before submitting an item of interest to press/social media that concerns the individual
  • Should be fully informed of any other advertising or publicity undertaken by any other member of the Society
  • Attend Committee Meetings and provide timely updates for discussion
